SOC 211 - Social Deviance

Outcome 1:
Students will exhibit knowledge of the definition of deviant social behavior.

Outcome 2:
Students will demonstrate the ability to discuss objectivist and subjectivist theories of social deviance in large and small groups, and to express both theoretically based and empirically based opinions.


Outcome 3:
Students will demonstrate an understanding of the use of alcohol and drugs as deviant behavior.

Outcome 4:
Students will exhibit knowledge of current social problems as these relate to social deviance, including, but not limited to, suicide, prostitution, family violence, rape, homicide, Internet crime, government and corporate crime.

Outcome 5:
Students will examine and evaluae alternative perspectrves and opinions while challenging their own assumptions regarding social deviance and social control of deviance.

Outcome 6:
Students will develop and express interpretations of analysis of the principles of social deviance through formal and informal writing.
