Outcome 1:
Students will demonstrate an understanding of the methods and research designs used in the empirical study of personality psychology as a social science, including cross-cultural issues and methods, and including an understanding of ethical issues in psychological research.
Outcome 2:
Students will be able to distinguish between the major historical schools of thought in psychology, and demonstrate an understanding of how each continues to impact the field of psychology.
Outcome 3:
Students will be able to identify and demonstrate an understanding of the Freudian or psychoanalytic approach to personality, including theory, application, and assessment.
Outcome 4:
Students will be able to identify and demonstrate an understanding of the neo-Freudian approach to personality, including theory, application, and assessment.
Outcome 5:
Students will be able to identify and demonstrate an understanding of the trait approach to personality, including theory, application, and assessment.
Outcome 6:
Students will be able to identify and demonstrate an understanding of the biological approach to personality, including theory, application, and assessment.
Outcome 7:
Students will be able to identify and demonstrate an understanding of the humanistic approach to personality, including theory, application, and assessment.
Outcome 8:
Students will be able to identify and demonstrate an understanding of the theory, application, and assessment of the behavioral/social learning approach to personality.
Outcome 9:
Students will be able to identify and demonstrate an understanding of the cognitive approach to personality, including theory, application, and assessment.
Upon successful completion of this course students will have demonstrated competence in these outcomes as evidenced by a cumulative score of 70% or more on exams, formal written work and seminar discussion.
